Belgaum is one of 57 Karnataka cities in the Nirmala Nagara - Municipal eGovernance project. On Aug 15th 2005 each of the 57 cities will get a comprehensive website as well as the Public Grievance & Redressal module. Other important modules to be launched by June 2006 are Property Tax, Financial Accounting, GIS Mapping, Birth & Death Certification, and Ward Works.
Nirmala Nagara project is a partnership between the Urban Development Dept, eGovernments Foundation &
Survey of India. These computer based systems coupled with Govt.
process re-engineering and GIS digital mapping will provide
transparency and accountability and smoother delivery of services to

Belgaum is a town in northwest Karnataka, India. It is the headquarters of Belgaum district. The town is situated nearly 2,500 ft(762m) above sea-level. INDAL (Indian Aluminium Company) is located at Belgaum. Belgaum also has a number of training centres of the Indian Armed Forces, and an air base of the Indian Air Force.

No story of Belgaum is complete without a mention of Kittur Rani Chennamma. One of India's first freedom fighters, the queen's heroic resistance is still commemorated locally-in song and story. Her statue stands sentinel over Belgaum at a prominent square. |

Within the walls of the Belgaum fort is the late Chalukya style, of which the Kamala Basti with Neminatha idol in black stone should not be missed. The masterpiece here is the " Mukhamantapa" with a well executed lotus on its ceiling. |

City Budget:The annual budget of the Corporation for the year 2005-06 is Rs. 4209.8 lakhs . Out of which Rs. 557.53 lakhs is proposed for capital
expenses, Rs. 1886.52 lakhs towards Repairs and Maintenance, Rs. 165.75 lakhs towards New works and Rs. 100.36 lakhs towards the welfare of SC/ST.
